Matti May Hardie

On Thursday, we went castle visiting. I was really passive about it at first because, yanno, you see one castle and you've kind of seem then all, right? I was wrong. They were epic. The first one was in a town called Linderhof, and it's one of Louis II of Bavaria's longest residences (basically, he lived there the longest - 8 years to be precise). The story goes that he was obsessed with "Le Roi Soleil" (Louis XIIII (14th)) so modeled this castle kind of in the image of the Chateau de Versailles. THERE WAS SO MUCH GOLD. Sadly (for a reason that is unknown to me) we weren't aloud to take any photos, so I can't show you that, but there's a pretty thing outside of it (no one actually told me what it was, but it was kinda pretty, and I needed SOMETHING). There was also a grotto and it was epic. It was quite a way away from Moosburg, but we got to see these incredible mountains on the journey there.

That's the outside of a temple thing that was near the first castle.

He had an artificial grotto made. Can we talk about that for a sec? I think that's a new life goal of mine, being rich enough to have an outside temple and an artificial grotto made.

I just want to take a sec to tell you the story of Louis II of Bavaria because when my teacher told me it, I was totally moved. Basically, Louis II was gay but also in love with (and later on friendzoned by) the composer Vagner (if you don't know who Vagner is GO AND BRUSH UP ON YOUR GENERAL KNOWLEDGE) but the family didn't tell anyone, they preferred to pass him off as a crazy person (also so that the people of Bavaria had a reason as to why he kept spending all of the population's money building all these fancy castles). He was then removed from the thrown (what's the word for that? Dethrowned?) and soon after that, he supposedly drowned himself in a lake with his doctor. How depressing is that? Though I do like that he was gay. Yo, he was part of the LGBTQ community!! (Lolz).

Then we went to another one of Louis II in a town (that I will never be able to pronounce) called Neuschwanstein (just note that I had to get my teacher to spell that out for me haha). This castle was Disney's inspiration for the castle in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (the original one obvs) and just generally the Disney castle. Cool, right? We didn't go in because there's only 3 rooms you can visit, and we didn't have the time, but it was cool to see it since I was a massive Disney fan when I was a kid.

Another dawn, another day in Moosburg.

We had classes all morning until 1 (in Germany they only have classes until 3.30pm at the latest). It was very boring, since it was all in German, so we (my friend, Coline and I) basically spent the entire time sleeping. The only class I actually tried in was music (the music teacher is the most epic guy ever - I want a french version of him as my music teacher not gonna lie) where they were learning about punk rock (something I could actually participate in since I'm English and quite well informed in punk rock-related stuff).

We went home, had some lunch and some internet time. Then Janina's best friend, Helene and her correspondent, Elin came over and we went into Moosburg town center to get some ice-cream (German ice-cream is the best ice-cream on earth).

Then we went to this river bank thing and drank Spätsi until just before it went dark.

On a bit of a soberer note, I went a little downhill at the end. I ended up shouting at Elin and having to walk off because I was about to have a rage attack and the anxiety and anger was building up in my chest. Then I nearly had a panic attack because I couldn't breath but I managed to calm myself down. That's what's annoying with my anxiety/rage/general mental illness. I can't even go a week without getting stressed or anxious or angry. I feel really disappointed in myself, because I let myself down, I couldn't control it and I should be able to by now.

We went to a barbecue at Helene's house that evening and then hung out at her's until about 8.30pm. I rang my Mum and had a little cry about it, and told her everything, because I need my Mama. Then I rang my Dad and made sure he was fine. I decided to have a shower because it was been really warm that day and I had been sweating.
To make myself feel better, I decided to have a little OITNB binge. I felt better after that.

Sorry there's next to no photos on this blog post but I'd already shown you the school and I forgot to photograph Moosburg. Sorry guys!

Yet another day in Germany. Again, waking up is hard. 6.30am is not a good time for me. We got to school and we went straight to the train station to go to Munich. We got there and took the Metro to the Olympic park. We went to the swimming pool first and all swooned over the inviting warm air and comforting chlorine-filled that will forever remind you of going to the swimming baths when you were a kid - don't lie, it does.

We visited the Olympic park (did you know that those hills are FAKE?! I was shocked, though quite proud that I was the one who had noticed that they almost look fake. Go me haha.

We went up a television pole. Like, it's something that helps distributes the TV signals, but you can also visit it. There is an incredible view and the photos don't even do it justice.

Next we took the Metro again and we went to an art gallery called "Lenbachhaus" (where we weren't aloud to take any photos) and them, FINALLY, we were let off to do some shopping.

My friend Loïck and I went to McDonalds because I'd been given a misinformation and had forgotten my packed lunch and he hadn't been given one, so by this time we were dying of starvation. German McDonalds is crap to be gentle. The coke is flat, guys. We caught up with our friends again and went shopping.

I nearly had several heart attacks because Mac, Starbucks, guys!! It was too much. We went home after that and we had the nicest dinner ever (I don't know what it was called though).

Hey all,
Hows you?

Even though I decided against vlogging the Germany trip, (I can't quite bring myself to start talking to a camera in front of most of my class mates haha) I still wanted to have a record of it and be able to look back over it when I'm old and grey. This wasn't actually day 1 but Saturday and Sunday weren't worth talking about. The only important thing that happened was that the airline (Lufthansa I'm looking at you!) FORGOT MY SUITCASE IN FRANCE. Really.

I've started on the second full day simply because I didn't do anything on the first day. I woke up at about 11, mooched around the house for a while, borrowed some of Janina's sister's clothes (since the airline hadn't yet sent my suitcase so I was without clean clothes and she offered to lend me some stuff since we were the same size), then me and Janina went to Moosburg town center because there was a medieval festival going on there so all the shops were open. Turns out it was crap but still, it was an experience. (I forgot my iPod whilst visiting so I didn't get chance to take any photos of Moosburg, but I will take some if I get chance.

Day 2
Monday mornings in Germany are just as painful as in France, I've discovered. We got up and dressed and left for 7.30pm, and we had to ride our bikes to school (which was interesting and extremely funny for Janina, less for me as I can't ride a bike to save my life - well maybe not that bad but I'm really bad at it!
Once at school, Janina left for her first class whilst I (and the other french kids) had a tour of the school. The school is insane (in a good way) - for real. Then we went to our classes and had German and English (fun fun fun! To be honest, I didn't actually hear all that much English during the English class and way too much German in the German class haha).

We went for lunch in the cafeteria, it was really nice yet simple. We went off after that to go and visit a town called "Landshut" (pronounced Lands-hut). It was super pretty, and we were meant to be visiting the castle and the church though, but the teachers all wanted coffee too badly so we only visited the church (which was beautiful - but still just a church, sadly, I've been in so many churches in my lifetime that it was quite a same-old feeling) and then we were let off to do some shopping!

I bought this gorgeous handbag at A&C  for 15€ which, even though it did hurt my budget, I'm in love with and just KNEW I had to buy it as soon as I saw it.

We went home after that on the train and Janina came to pick me up from the station and we went with my friend Loïck and his correspondent, Valentin, to a nearby sports area thing and we hung out there for a while (which was really nice - one of the disadvantages of living in rural France is that you can't just call on your friends) then we went home.

Sadly, I fail to recollect what happened after that. I do remember trying a German drink called "Spätsi", it's a mix of coke (the drink not the drug obvs) and orange flavouring - ITS SO GOOD!!!! I've literally taken some back to France with me. Really.

(Quick shoutout to my lovely friend Oriane who took a lot of the photos in this post (yes I made the most of her fancy, good quality DSLR camera and her photography skills haha, no shame) and she was kind enough to send them to me - lot of love for her <3)

Sorry about the massive amounts of photos but that town was just the cutest!

Hey all,
Hows you?

SUMMERS NEARLY HERE!!!!!! I literally can't express how excited I am for spring and summer. Like, I'm weeing myself with excitement. Okay, maybe not that but you get the idea. So now I'm making all my preps (I'm starting early because I only have 20 euros allowance for everything so I need to spread it all out over the months) and I thought I'd share these preparations.

Skincare
Clinique "Superdefense Daily Defense with SPF 20" Moisturizer
Source

I got this as a sample a few days ago and I'm still using it now. I really like it and I feel like the fact that there's a decent SPF is a massive bonus because I hate putting sun cream on my face. I probably won't be able to afford this, but I can still dream, right?
