Pin-Up Girl Make-Up Tutorial (ft Royally Rouge) | Matti May Hardie

Hey all,
Hows you?

I've always loved pin-up girls. Even though they're often related to early porn-stars, I personally think they (can) look great. The make-up, the clothes, the diners, everything. I honestly sometimes think I was born in the wrong time! So when Frances asked me to do a collab with her doing a pin-up make-up look, I felt like it was perfect!

I had a little look on Pinterest to see what a pin-up look really consisted of. It was basically a winged liner, red lip and pale complexion - my speciality!

Base

This is pretty standard. I took the Benefit "POREfessional" Primer, slathered it all over my face, then used a pump of Rimmel "Match Perfection" foundation, then used the RealTechniques "Pointed Foundation Brush" to apply it. Blendy blend blend. Then I'm going to take the ELF "High Definition" Powder and brush that all over my face lightly to give me more less of an oily look about me.

Eyes and Eyebrows

This always seems to be the most complex part of the look, but really it's quite simple once you get the hang of it. All you need to do is draw a line of eyeliner on you lid, then create a sizeable flick to give you a cat eye effect. You can choose however big or small the flick is but I'd say that an average size flick is good, though beware that you don't make it too small that no one can see it. This look is all about enhancing your features! I personally use a felt-tip liner, the Maybelline "Master Precise" eyeliner to be exact, but you can use whatever kind you want.
Next I'm going to apply some mascara. I've chosen the Maybelline "Lash Sensational" mascara because it gives me the best false lash effect. You could use flash lashes if you wanted to but I chose not to, simply because you can't find fake lashes anywhere in France.
All I'm going to do with my brows is comb them into place and fill them in with one of the shades of the On The Run palette called "Fix" (2nd to the left on the photo below).

Blush and Bronzer

I wanted to keep this really simple since it's already a heavy look and a difficult one to pull off so adding even more heaviness from the blush and bronzer would've sank it all. For the blush, I'm going to take the blush that's in the Urban Decay "On The Run" palette. I'm going to just apply that to the apples of my cheeks and blend out as much as I can so that it doesn't stand out too much. I'm just looking for it to be subtle. Then I'll take the bronzer that's in that same palette and contour (yes, ladies and gentlemen, I'm contouring *waits for round of applause*) lightly with it.

Lips

For my lips I wanted a really rich, red lip with some  slight orange tones in it. I had a little look-see around my (dire) lipstick collection and I thought that the Nivea lipstick in Rouge d'Amour (yeah, I didn't realise Nivea did lipsticks either) would be the perfect fit.

And there we have it! How to create the perfect pin-up model look. If you try and recreate it, tag me on Instagram or on Twitter (links down below!).
