Matti May Hardie

Hey all
Hows you?

She's done it again. She's started a "series" again. Oh god! - Ok I can explain. The S.S. series was stupid and it wasn't going anywhere, that's why I stopped that, at that time I was looking to see what I'm going to do on my blog. This is different. I want you guys to know more about me. I know I'm totally open with you guys, but I still have stuff I want to talk to you about. I, am not perfect. Quite the opposite. I am a freaking mess and a nightmare. I have more than enough faults to go around, but then again, I'm ok with that. I have quite a few "things" (mind things) that I have and that I know that other people have too.

Personally, I find that watching and reading that other people that they are the same and they have the same problems, helps so so much. Just to know that I'm not alone helps me (personally) enormously. And I want to help as many people as I can. So this is a series that's very close to my heart and I count on finishing it when I have nothing else to say. Then again, I'm not going to say "every Tuesday I'm going to put a Meet Me up!" because I won't end up doing it. I'll put stuff up when I feel like it because if I force myself it won't be right.

So here it goes. I am a very anxious person. I don't know if I always have been but for the past few years it's been very bad. Anxiety is something that's very engulfing. I stand by that fact because anyone who has anxiety will probably tell you the same thing. It takes up most of your thoughts, to the point where you can't let anything else in. Personally for me what happens is that I will get butterflies in my stomach, but in like a "oh I'm really nervous" way, but more a "oh frick what's going on, I'm gonna die, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god" sort of way. I often have my head spinning, but not like a dizzy way, it's hard to explain, but you'll understand if you get that too, and also (and this is a thing that is more recent) I start shaking, how much depends on how anxious I am. The shaking, as I was saying, is a new thing, because when I was little and until a few months ago, I never shook., like, my hand didn't shake, but now they do.

There are two different sorts of anxiety: normal anxiety and anxiety disorder. Now I think I may get this wrong if I say it in my own words so I'm going to quote (more like paraphrase) Zoe Sugg (aka Zoella) in one of her videos that she put up about anxiety and panic attacks:

"Most people will actually have anxieties, something like short term anxiety where you're nervous because you're about to go on stage or you've got a test: that's all normal. Anxiety for someone who actually suffers with anxiety which is like prolonged amounts of time is almost like your body is freaking out at a lot more things than it should be freaking out at and it feels like it's in this dangerous situation, you kind of feel a bit uncomfortable, really worried, really stressed, it's like a million emotions all in one and you'll get like a funny tummy (or what I call butterflies), you'll start to feel a bit hot, you'll start to feel  bit "oh my goodness, I can't actually handle this and if your anxiety gets particularly bad it can then turn into a panic attack or anxiety attack which is basically when your body goes into fight or flight mode because it thinks something is happening to you and it prepares your body to either run away or fight the situation. Most of the time, we don't need to fight or fly, it's just that we have a really anxious mind. The metaphor I often use is that anxious people are the cars in the street, who's alarm goes off with a little gust of wind or a leave and everyone else are the cars that need a good battering before their alarms go off."

When you get anxiety, you feel like an elephant is sitting on your chest or that your lungs are full of cotton wool, making each breath strained. Because you're breathing way more than you should, you starting feeling dizzy and lightheaded, almost as if your heart is pumping helium, not blood around your body. And the entire time you know why you feel like this, and you curse the very idea of anxiety. It's the oddest thing you'll ever experience, but it's also the worst. Often, my nose will start stinging, because you can smell everything, simply because your body is going into fight or flight mode. I also tend to struggle to read things. You'll ask me to read a blog post and I won't be able to make sense of the words, even if I concentrate really hard.

Aller Kiss,
Matti x

Hey all
Hows you?

I decided to do my August favourites, mind you, when I'm writing this, it still is August but I'm writing this throughout August so I don't forget anything. Also, I finished this early and I couldn't be bothered to wait, plus, it's my August favorites, and it's August, do the math!!

UGG Boots
Something I've been re-loving this month are Ugg boots. Now, I know it's August but we had a rather cold spell and I didn't feel to good so I felt very cold, and I dug out from my shoe compartment (or the slope behind my bed that I don't have enough room to put any furniture so I put my (few) shoes and other little bits of crap there) my Ugg boots. I got them in New York (and to be honest I still owe my Mum for them, but I think she forgot, thank god) and I haven't quite worn them in yet but they are still sooooo comfy.

Nina Ricci "Mademoiselle Ricci" Eau de Toilette
This is something that I've loved for a very long time but I've particularly liked this month, is Mademoiselle Ricci by Nina Ricci. It smells so good, and it's such a delicate smell. I love it.

Clinique "Repairwear Lazer Focus" Eye Cream
I mean, I know I'm 14 and don't necessarily need eye cream, but I frown a lot and I have a lot of bags, do I need to say more? It's really good and I think I can see some a bit of improvement.

The Body Shop
I really love this shop and I haven't spoken about it enough. It's soooo good! I recently went to Andorra and there's a Body Shop there and I was mesmerized by it. I love anything that's beauty and body care. And the make-up is really good too, bonus.

My Wife And Kids
Recently, I have fallen in love with "My Wife and Kids". OMG it is SO funny! Honestly I spend my time cry laughing from it!!

George Ezra "Wanted On Voyage"
This month, I have really been loving 2 things in music. First is George Ezra's new Album, "Wanted On Voyage". I'm actually in love with him. His voice is just WOW and the songs are brilliant too. Ahhhhh SO GOOD!!! That's about all I can say about it. I'm just soooo in love with it.

Taylor Swift "Shake It Off"
Next is Taylor Swift's new song, Shake It Off. Ahahaaaaaaa I love it so much <3 really fun, cool, funky vibe that just wants you to dance for it!! (Ok that sounds weird) Really good, and the only song of Taylor Swifts that I genuinely like (Sorry but most of her country songs are really annoying).

Shazam

This app has been out for a while, but I've only recently stated using it. It's called Shazam. Basically, you play it a song that you want to know the name of, you wait for a few seconds and poof! it tells you. I did a test when I first downloaded it, I gave it 10 random songs, like RANDOM that no one had heard of, by really obscure bands or singers, and it did 10/10. There we are, who needs anymore proof than that?

The Remnants by Anna Scanlon

Now I haven't actually read entirely but I read the prologue and the first chapter and it looks really good. It's called "The Remnants" by Anna Scanlon. It's about what would happen if the Nazi's had won the war. It's really interesting and I plan on buying it as soon as it comes out. I genuinely felt like it was Stella (the main character) who was telling the story. Even though I could only read the prologue and the first chapter, it already had me in it's clutches. I don't want to talk about the story because if I do I'll give everything away (or at least the little I know) and plus, I think that this is the sort of book that you just have to read it to understand what the heck I'm talking about. Five stars <3

The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz

The next one is a book I spoke about a couple of posts ago about a book called "The Spellman Files" by Lisa Lutz. I've already spoken about it in my recent post called "Top 5 Favourite Books" so just go and have a read of my thoughts on it there.

Hey all
Hows you?

Another list! But this one's good, I wanted to talk about my top 10 favorite books of all time. You see, I read a lot and I wanted to share them with you, and if you've read any of these books, let me know what you thought of them and if you have any books that you think I'd like based on these books, send me an e-mail or tell me in the comments.

5. The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown

Unlike my previous 4 books faves, this is a lot less chewing gum for the brain. The whole book is basically a riddle in itself. It's about Professor Robert Langdon, a professor of symbology at Harvard University, who, while on a business trip to Paris, gets a late night phone call saying that the curator, Jacques Sauniere had been brutally murdered inside the museum. Alongside the corpse of the curator, the police had found a series of baffling codes, and a load of symbols and they think that Langdon is probably the best person to decipher the symbols and tell them what Sauniere was trying to tell them. Whilst there, a young cryptologist, Sophie Neveu, unbeknown to Langdon that she is Sauniere's grand-daughter, from the DCPJ (the french police department), who explains to Langdon that they don't really want to  know about the symbols, but really, they think that Langdon killed the Professor, which was not the case, but the DCPJ wasn't prepared to take no for an answer. In one night, Sophie and Langdon escape and they set out to find out what on earth Jacques wanted to tell them and it takes them on a journey crossing paths with religous extremists and great works of art and a crazy art historian. But can Langdon and Sophie decipher the code before it's too late? It's such a great book, one of the down sides is that you really do have to focus and concentrate or you miss it. But I really enjoyed reading it as History of Art and Codes and Symbology are kind of my thing. If you enjoy cliff hangers, suspense and art, this is your sort of a book!

4. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

This is a great book. I really enjoyed reading it, and I have to admit, I may have cried a little bit during Hazel's eulogy to Gus. It's basically about 2 people, a girl, Hazel Grace Lancaster who has lung cancer and a guy, Gus or Augustus Waters who has recovered from some limb cancer, where he had to have a leg amputated. They meet at a cancer support group and their relationship blooms. It's such a nice book and the film is so lovely too. I really like it and it's definitely one of my faves. No doubt.

3. The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins

Well... what do I need to say about this? It's brilliant. To be honest, I don't need to be explained, everyone knows what this is. If you don't, well, where have you been for the past, what? 3 years? It's about a girl called Katniss Everdeen who lives in a post-apocalyptic world, where there are 12 disticts and the Capitol - also known as the reminents of North America. That's all that's left of the world. The Capitol is basically the all controlling city. Ever year, the Hunger Games take place (it's a competiton in which every year, 2 children are picked (one boy and one girl called Tributes) in each district to fight to the death in an arena and there will only be 1 winner, also known as a Victor. The reason for the Hunger Games? Because 74 years ago, the, then 13, districts rose above the Captiol and tried to overthrow them. It didn't work and the districts were defeaten and in the proces, District 13 was blown off the map and after, the Hunger Games were created to remind them each year that  really, the Capitol is the boss, and that they will never be able to defeat them. I won't talk about what happens because I'll be SO giving it away so you just have to read thebooks. Don't cheat and watch the films because I have to admit, even though I though the films were great, I though the books are better. So much better. Which is weird because I usually tend to prefer films, but that's another story.

2. The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz

Ahhhh the Spellman Files. This is a really really good book. I read it in a week and I would definetly read it again. It's about a family of Private Investigators. The eldest daughter is the narrator, Isabel Spellman. She has worked for the family buisness all her life, but when her parents assign her little sister to follow her new boyfriend, she snaps. She decides to quit. Her parents agree for her to quit, but only if she solves the Stone case, the problem is, the Stone case is years old, and as twisted as a pretzel. It's a really good and funny book that I really recommend if you fancy some chewing-gum for the brain.

1. The Lost Art Of Keeping Secrets by Eva Rice

This is undoubtedly my favorite book EVER in the history of the world so far. I've read it countless times and I could more or less recite it to you. It's about this terribly English 18 year-old girl called Penelope Wallace in post WW2. She lives in this massive estate house called Milton Magna Hall (or Magna for short) with her mum (a magnificent widow) and her brother, Inigo (an aspiring rockstar who has fallen in love with Rock'n'Roll and Pop Music). The day she meets Charlotte Ferris, who takes her to tea with her Aunt Clare and Cousin Harry, everything changes. And it changes even more when Harry, when he and Charlotte are visiting Magna, asks Penelope to accompany him and Charlotte to his ex-lover's (the renound Marina Hamilton) engagement party to pose as his new love so that Harry could win her back. As the books evolves, Charlotte and Penelope become fast friends. Truely this is a heart-warming book that I really am obsessed with (and I have to admit that I kind of fell a littlebit in love with Inigo and Harry!). What it really is, is a story of a girl becoming a woman and it's a real coming of age story. I could talk about it for years.

And that's it! My top 5 books of all time. Hope you enjoyed this and let me know if you like these sort of posts.

Hey all
Hows you?

Lip-Coat
What you do is you put your lipstick on and them you put the lip-coat on over it and it makes it stay 10 x longer. You can drink, you can kiss, you can talk ect, ect and the lipstick won't come off. However, when you apply it, while drying, it burns quite a bit. But you can't do anything with your lips (talk, drink, ect...) while it's drying, it doesn't take too long, but it really is worth it.

MAC Powder
Next is M.A.C powder. Yes, I know I mention M.A.C a lot when talking about beauty products, but I really do swear by M.A.C even though I'm too poor to buy anything from there (sniff...). So (are you ready?) my mum's best friend's daughter made me up and she put some M.A.C powder on me and it was so so good. I'm definitely saving up for that!

Pitch Perfect

This film is about a girl called Beca, who is an aspiring DJ forced to go to college by her dad and what happens when she is... let's call it forcefully persuaded to join her college's all-female accapella group, the Barden Bellas. It's really funny and just one of those films that I could watch over and over and still think to myself after "That was a great film." If you like music and comedy, this is a film for you! (Just like in the advert, jokes)

The Breakfast Club

Next is a film that is often referenced by a friend of Becca's in Pitch Perfect called "The Breakfast Club". I literally watched it for the first time last night and when it was finished I restarted it. It was that good. It's about 5 students from totally different social groups - an athlete, a nerd, a princess, a basket case and a criminal - who are all in detention all day one Saturday. At first they can't stand each other but in the end, it's completely the opposite. I promise you, it is one of the funniest films I have EVER watched. EVER. The acting is brilliant, the script is witty and it's joke after joke, I'm absolutely sold. I could only find one problem, it's that I didn't get why they called themselves "The Breakfast Club" there was no reference to breakfast or any meals mind you apart from when they're eating lunch. Feel free to explain in the comments.

The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones

... Well... where the fuck am I meant to start on explaining this! It's quite an involved story and to be honest I had to get a plot summary from IMDb because if I had tried to explain it this would have been the longest post EVER (I've turned this to make it my words but the briefness of the one on IMDb). Set in contemporary New York City, Clary Fray, a seemingly normal teenager, discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret "breed" of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother, Clary joins forces with a group of Shadowhunters who live at "the Insitute", (a building that looks like a dump from the human eye, but from a Shadowhunter's eye, is a palace) who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and othe deadly creatures.

MAGIC!

This sounds like a really random name but it's a really cool band. It's sort of a rocky/reggae sound and I'm really loving their new album, "Don't Kill The Magic!"
